Reflecting on the sustained efforts of the Federal Road Safety Corps and other stakeholders in the advocacy and promotion of bicycle transportation in Nigeria in the past couple of years, it is apparent that the number of people physically riding bicycle on urban streets especially in Abuja has not sufficiently reflected the efforts. To this end, it becomes expedient to look again at world cities with success cycling stories and what they did or are doing differently. A clear area of interest identified from these cities that we may not have paid adequate attention to in our efforts, is whether we are adequately aware of what discourages people from cycling and whether we are addressing the identified concerns in an appropriate way.
